Sources & methodology
How Orbie News works
Orbie News is an independent multi-source news aggregator. It scans public RSS feeds from major news organizations, groups related coverage of the same story, and helps readers compare sources without relying on social media trends.
Decks
Pick a category and its stories appear as a deck of cards, stacked one behind the next. Scroll or swipe to move through the deck; tap a card to open the full list of outlets covering that story, and tap again to close it. Nothing is shown until you choose a category.
Every card is a group, never a single article
A card exists only when at least two different outlets have covered the same event. There are no single-source stories anywhere on the site. That is also why a category can be missing: a deck holds between three and ten cards, and a category that cannot reach three is hidden rather than padded out with thin material.
How long a story stays
Orbie News rebuilds every three hours, and each rebuild's stories replace the last. If a rebuild finds fewer than three stories for a category, the most recent cards from the previous deck stay on to make up the difference. A card carried this way drops after 24 hours whatever happens, so nothing on the site is more than a day old.
Titles, summaries and sections
Each group's headline, its one-sentence context line, and the note on what a particular outlet emphasises are written by a language model from the source headlines alone, and the model also decides which category the story belongs in. It is not permitted to introduce a fact that no source headline states. Where a story is still developing, a title written by an earlier build may be carried forward rather than rewritten.
Images
A card's square image is whichever picture the publishers already supply in their own feeds. Images are loaded directly from the publisher and are never copied or rehosted.
Sharing
The share button on an open card produces a link to a permanent snapshot of that card and its sources as they were when you shared it. Those pages are not listed anywhere on the site and are not indexed by search engines; they exist so a link you send to someone keeps working.
Listen
The Listen page streams live news radio and plays the latest episode from selected news podcasts on Orbie News. Orbie News does not host audio files or rank podcast episodes.
Search
Search covers exactly what the site is currently showing, including the headline each individual outlet used. A result always opens the card it belongs to, so nothing found in search leads somewhere that isn't on the page.
Reader choice
Orbie News does not tell readers what to believe about a source or article. The goal is to show what is being covered, where coverage overlaps, and which original sources are available to read.
Limits
Publishers and public institutions may change, limit, or temporarily break feeds. Orbie News uses public feed data and links back to the original source for the full article or release.
